    Jayne Summers, Principal of Eastbourne Academy of Dancing

    Jayne started dancing at the age of ten in Lymington, Hampshire. At 16 she won a scholarship to the Arts Educational School (Golden Lane, London) and trained for 3yrs with Ann Heaton, Anita Young and Jean Campbell.

    After dancing professionally with ballet companies in France for two years Jayne returned to the UK joining NBT (Northern Ballet Theatre) and danced many Solo and Principal roles including Prelude in Alicia Markova’s production of Les Sylphides, Geoffrey Cauley’s Miss Carter Wore Pink, Andre Prokovsky’s new production of Faust Divertimento, Sleeping Beauty’s Blue Bird and Lilac Fairy alongside the late great Rudolf Nureyev.

    Leading on after a ten year career Jayne completed the Professional Dancers Teachers Course (PDTC) at the Royal Academy of Dance London under Julia Farron and David Wall.

    Jayne started teaching freelance classes at various schools in London and the south before joining Eastbourne Academy of Dancing. She took over the school as principal in 2007 and now has over 20 years’ experience teaching classical ballet to all age groups.

    Lesley Trained at the Drusilla Duffil School of Theatre Dance where she graduated with the school diploma and Associate teaching qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in Modern Theatre Dance, Tap and National Dance with distinction. Lesley started teaching at the Eastbourne Academy in 1985 when she introduced tap classes to the school for the first time.

    As well as teaching the ISTD Jazz awards Lesley was awarded the Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) in Modern Theatre Dance, Tap and National Dance by the ISTD.She is now proud to be teaching alongside one of her first pupils Zoe Kinsella.

    Zoe began dancing at the Eastbourne Academy of Dancing aged 7 and at 16 was offered a place at Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts on a full bursary. At Birds Zoe gained the ISTD Ballet, Modern and Tap associate teaching qualification with distinction under the guidance of examiners Heather Fish , Lyn Richardson and Tracy Lee. After graduating Zoe started dancing professionally on the high seas as dance captain with Paradise, MSC, Celebrity, Festival and Costa Cruise Lines and also toured Northern Spain with Fascination Ballet .Most recently with her husband Zoe opened a Production Company choreographing production shows for resorts and Cruise Lines in Greece.

     

     

     

    All teachers are RAD and ISTD accredited and undergo a continuous training programme to maintain, as well as develop, a fresh student- centred approach to their work.
